| Goth used to be a subclassification of punk. In the early to mid 80s, it emerged as a subculture in its own right, complete with its own graphic art, literature, music, and fashion. There is so much diversity within the gothic world that its members strongly resist attempts at definition and labeling. Yet there are stereotypes that linger... What is Goth? Goth unashamedly celebrates the dark recesses of the human psyche. Put the back of your hand on your forehead, and you're there: dark sensuality, sweeping sadness, morbid fascination, forbidden love, the beauty of enduring pain, you get the picture. Why Goth? Many people lead unhappy, unachieved lives. And that's sad. Goth makes depression and angst a lifestyle choice, and that's art. ;-) Goth as counter-culture 1967: The hippie counter-culture saw that the world sucked and promised to change it with love. 1977: Punk culture saw that the world still sucked and raised a middle finger in defiance. 1981: Goths understood all along the importance of a good smoke. ^^taken from http://www.sfgoth.com/primer/ ^^ ok...that's good...now what exactly is the definition of goth?? To some, goth is a style of dress; to others it's a lifestyle. Either way, the gothic look involves very black clothing and very white makeup with edgy, tough accessories. One of an ancient Teutonic race, who dwelt between the Elbe and the Vistula in the early part of the Christian era, and who overran and took an important part in subverting the Roman empire. (n.) One who is rude or uncivilized; a barbarian; a rude, ignorant person. ^that's not it either^ A real goth doesn't conform to any trend. Wearing all black was an attempt to defy conformity, before it became a trend in itself. Real goths don't give much of a fuck about what they wear, it just happens that they wear black. This labeling is all about a persons mentality and beliefs, not the way the dress. Of course, because of little idiot kids, Goths have now become shamed... all because of little fuckheads trying to be different. It's all about the music and your mentality, not the way you appear. a nice person who stands out a little by always wearing black and looking at things a little differently than others all people go through a stage in there life where they want to stand out and be heard I call this stage the "BLACK" stage the "BLACK" stage is nomaly caused by a bad moment that had happend in the past such as a break up or losing a loved one. the gothic lifestile is not a ripoff of the punk lifestile people just say that to seem "COOL" but really they have problums in there life that they dont want people to know about so they make fun of people. ^^there we go^^ |
