Ryan first appeared in the television series "One Life to Live." He played Billy Douglas, daytime TV's first gay teenager. Later went on to NBC's "Lake Success." Appeared in a number of small TV roles before moving into films, Ryan's first big-time success was in the film "White Squall," where he costarred with Scott Wolf, Ethan Embry, and Jeff Bridges.
His nationwide recognition came from the success of the 1997 horror flick, "I Know What You Did Last Summer." He starred along side Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Ryan has also appeared in a number of small budget, independent films. Among them is the now-out-on-video, "Homegrown." He also appeared in the films, "Little Boy Blue," and "Nowhere." Ryan's first leading role was in the remake of the 70's nightclub "54," in which he plays Shane O'Shea, a kid from New Jersey.
Reese Witherspoon, Ryan's costar from "Cruel Intentions," and Ryan got married in the summer of 1999. Reese just delivered a beautiful baby girl into the world!
